Pool Furniture Safety
Pool safety is a big concern for owners and managers of hotels and resorts. You want your swimming pool furniture to be comfortable, stylish, and safe. Does your commercial pool furniture have sufficient bracing, and is the design sturdy enough to handle everyday abuse from your guests? Is your swimming pool furniture commercial-grade with safety features at moving parts and stainless steel hardware? Sled base pool lounge chairs that will be dragged from location to location should have the protection of skid plates. Pool furniture should come with a one- to five-year warranty.
Pool Toys and Pool Floats
Consider your guests' safety and entertainment. If pool regulations forbid outside pool toys and pool floats, supply pool toys and pool floats for your guests. Pool floats and pool loungers are a fun and practical addition to your pool furniture. Swim trainers and kick boards serve as pool toys and safety devices for non-swimmers and poor swimmers. Baby pool floats, swim rings, and swim tubes emphasize safety in your hotel's pool. Inflatable water basketball and pool volleyball are great pool toys for pool parties. Other crowd-pleasing pool toys are golf and horseshoes.

Pool Safety First
Post regulations for safe use of pool furniture, pool floats, and pool toys. Pushing, back flips, back dives, and running should be prohibited. Children should always be supervised by adults and not allowed to use commercial pool furniture as toys.
Lifeguards must run surveillance from one side of the pool to the other and back in a 30-second period. Within 10 seconds, they must assess a potential victim's distress and determine whether to intervene; they must intervene within 20 seconds. Post times when there is no lifeguard on duty, when guests swim at their own risk, and age limitations. Clearly mark diving areas.
Pool toys and pool floats should be safely stored out of the water when not in use. Pool furniture should not be positioned close to the edge of the pool where children can sit and accidentally fall in the water. Commercial pool furniture and pool floats with cup holders safely secure beverages; prohibit use of glass containers within the pool area.
