About Fir Wood
Fir has characteristics very similar to Cedar. Well known for its combination of stability and light weight, it is commonly used in furniture, both here and abroad. Like Cedar, the grain is usually straight and displays prominent growth rings and knots.

My wife bought these for us and I love them. They are easy to assemble and instructions are well written and all hardware is labeled to make construction easy. I also like the ottoman feature on these chairs. The only thing I wish is that the arm were wider. Also I would recommend painting or sealing to make them more weather proof. I chose to paint mine in a tropical style and love having them by the pool!

We bought the pair with the table. We had just had our deck re-done and enlarged and had spent quite a bit on teak dining table and chairs and wanted to save a bit on the adirondack chairs I had always wanted. The items arrived well packaged and intact without missing or broken pieces. Directions were mildly difficult to follow but the second one went together much quicker after the first. The quality is definitely not high end. The "kiln dried asian ash" was described as comparable to American cedar in quality. This is no where near the truth in the product we received. Whenever we tightened the bolts we could hear the wood crunching and after the chair was assembled it seemed rickety, even after re-checking that all the screws and bolts were as tight as we dared make them. For the price they were an adequate purchase but we can definitely appreciate that these will only last two, three years tops and then we will replace them with a higher end product.
